Seasons 1-8 see shippers making bids on two of the shipments listed on the uShip website. This is an auction reverse structure. Bids are accompanied by comments on potential risks and costs as well as the motives, and abilities. The job usually goes to the bidder who has the lowest amount when the auction is over. But, at the discretion of the buyer it could be assigned to a higher bidder who has received a higher feedback rating from previous clients. Feedback ratings are used to break any bonds for the lowest bid. In the season 9 finale, the shippers collect their loads from a shipping broker, and bidding is not shown.Winners load their cargo and attempt to complete the delivery within the receiver's or client's deadline. Once the goods have been delivered, feedback ratings are shown from customers. The revenue of each shipper, as well as the expenses (fuel and labor as well as late-delivery penalties), is displayed on-screen at the end. To calculate the profit or loss, the bid amount is subtracted. Sometimes, shippers offer to carry additional loads as part of the same trip. The additional amount is added into their total. The shipper may not be able finish the job because of safety concerns or load size. Sometimes, one shipper may contract the help of a different shipper in order to complete a job. The shippers then decide what they'll do with the proceeds. The process of each shipment is interrupted by humorous comments from other shippers in seasons 1-8.
