In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track at the time within one year. It combines reggaeton with pop that has not only attracted new attention to reggaeton but also more interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish most of the time, and another four in the year the year 2016. In the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 songs mainly written in Spanish reached the top 100. The number grew to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. In the following year, a number of popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton singers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna collaborated with Maluma on Medellin. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton stars were dissatisfied with its direction toward mainstream. However, a younger generation, Rauw Alejandro, was keen to continue the evolution. His style often included elements of electronic dance music as well as other styles.
